An Australian named Oliver Percovich is raising money to open a skateboarding school in Afghanistan called Skateistan.  He has discovered that skateboarding is an excellent means to attract kids who would otherwise believe that school is only for the elite.

Girls can skate… until they reach puberty, after which they must be completely covered and have no contact with men.

This makes me very sad.
